fervent heat

In case you have been unaware, we are setting records today for the hot weather in Seattle. It’s over 100 degrees practically everywhere, and I’ve heard reports that many surrounding communities have even topped 110°. This heat comes just in time for me to leave town and go to Chicago tomorrow, where ironically, it’s a good deal cooler.

I’ll be there throughout the weekend. My good friend Sam is getting married on Saturday. I’ll try to eat some delicious Chicago food while I’m there, and enjoy everyones air conditioning.

You know, I didn’t think I’d ever say this but this weather is a lot like Zelda – Wind Waker to be more precise. In the game, you get a circly heat meter so that you can swim around for a limited time… the longer you’re in the water, the more the circly thing depletes and if it empties, you die. However, you can avoid dying by getting onto dry land before it depletes and then jump in the water again. I find myself a lot like Link nowadays… I leave an ACed building and I have a Coolant Circly thing that dictates how long I can stay outside…Stay too long, and a Neon Message sign, “Congratulations, You’ve got Heat Stroke!” appears. So, to avoid this, like Link, I visit as many AC buildings I can on my trip to point A to point B. …The moral of the story: Life is more like Video Games than folks think :P

That’s what I’ve been telling people for ages. You might even say I’m an oracle of ages, haha. But yes, it’s too hot. Find a rich friend with A/C or put your blankets in the freezer before bedtime. Although your roommate might not like that last suggestion.
