his house

God has been speaking so much to me recently about building the church. Specifically I wanted to share some scriptures that point out two main things:

  1. God is building the church.
  2. You are what He’s building with.

Do you believe that? And are you letting it happen?

Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. [Matthew 16:18]

And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God. [1 Peter 2:5]

Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. [Ephesians 2:20]

6 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 9 For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building. 10 Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. [1 Corinthians 3]

Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. [Psalm 127:1]

church website

At our annual Vision Banquet, Pastor Judah unveiled our new logo for The City Church. This last week Sean applied the new logo and branding to the church website, and I think it looks awesome. I know Andrew has put a lot of thought, care, and prayer into the new logo. I think it is going to help the church move forward with design so we can continue to use media to impact people, and set an example for other churches in our region.

scribblenauts released

Yesterday Scribblenauts was released, and the reception has been great. We’ve been featured in a popular web comic. We’ve been given many highly favorable reviews. And most meaningful to me, I’ve watched some friends play, and give way to bellows of laughter upon encountering some crazy situations. It’s strange to view the success of this project, something I myself was very skeptical of from the get go. But it’s given me a fresh excitement about what I do, and made me realize there are so many great ideas yet to be created.

Update: Penny arcade did a comic too (9/23/09).
