tweetie links

Why doesn’t Tweetie for iPhone have active links in the timeline view?

My brother bought Tweetie after I recommended it to him, but before long he went back to Echofon. The reason he sited is that you have to tap twice to view links/images from tweets. Once to go to the single tweet view, and then again on the link. That doubles the work for me to view a hyperlink. That might not seem like much, but I skip links far more often with Tweetie on iPhone when compared to the Mac version or Twitter on the web.

Here is a quick mockup of what I think links could look like. I think a highlight color is plenty to make a link recognizable, and bold is likely overkill. This contributes very little visual clutter to the timeline.

My main reason for this being an issue is that following links from tweets is primary functionality of Twitter usage. Practically everyone and their Mom (literally) is sharing links on Twitter. It doesn’t seem like a page 2 option. It should be right up front. Am I wrong?

I’m realizing I never posted this flowchart that was on a popular web comic a while back, but I wanted to reference it somewhere on my site. That way when people ask me stupid questions, I have a link to point them to.
